Bandcamp Friday recommendations

This is a list of 20 albums I love that I highly recommend for Bandcamp Friday, where all proceeds go directly to artists.

  1. Bridges, by Jets Overhead (Soft) rock with beautiful vocals. Just a gorgeous and perfect album. Favourite track: All the People
  2. Vetrasól by Árstíðir Four men singing acapella icelandic hymns. What could be better for calming down to music?Favourite track: Heyr himna smiður
  3. To Be Touched, by Liam Ó Maonlaí One of the best Irish folk albums I own. His voice is just so beautiful. Favourite track: Siobhan Ní Dhuibhir
  4. MydWynter by Mediæval Bæbes The Mediæval Bæbes have been a favourite for many, many years. A group of 7 women who sing acapella medieval music (they also have some albums with instruments, I like those least 😃) This album has some christmas music, but I can listen to it every day. Favourite track: The Wexford Carol (but that changes each time I listen to this album)
  5. Love and hate in a different time by Gabriels I saw Gabriels at Glastonbury Festival in 2022, and it was easily one of my top favourite concerts. Such a beautiful soulful voice and music that goes straight to your bones. Favourite track: In Loving Memory (prepare to cry)
  6. Afternoon Jazz, by Various Artists I listen to a LOT of Lofi Girl, but this one is a definite favourite and bought the album. Lofi mixed with jazz. What’s not to love?
  7. sometimes i sit and think, and sometimes i just sit by Courtney Barnett A joyous rock explosion. Favourite track: Nobody Really Cares If You Don’t Go To The Party
  8. Spell 31, by Ibeyi This is such gorgeous music. The voices mingle so beautifully. Favourite Track: Lavender & Red Roses
  9. The last thing left by Say Sue Me Sometimes you need an album just because it makes you happy. This is that album. Favourite track: Around You.
  10. Island Intervals by Death Vessel I actually discovered this album clicking through Bandcamp, so it’s a great album to close off this list with. Lovely poppy/melancholic music, the kind you play on a windy autumn day. Favourite track: Velvet Antlers
  11. Miss Grit - Under My Umbrella- My most recent purchase, discovered on Bandcamp by clicking around the new section and falling completely in love with the song Stranger. The full album isn't out yet, but you can preorder it!
  12. Ye Vagabonds - All Tied Together - One of the best new folk bands around. This new album is one of their best imho.
  13. Lówli - Window in the Woods- Another artist I discovered by clicking around. Her voice is so beautiful and soothing, The perfect wind-down and relax with a cup of coffee music.
  14. Jesca Hoop - Selective Memory - I don't even remember how I heard of this album. I think on Mastodon? It's an amazing album, acoustic versions of the songs from the album Memories Are Now, but I think that I like these versions better.
  15. I'm With Her - Wild and Clear and Blue - I discovered this band on Bandcamp while browsing the singer songwriter or folk category last year for new music, shortly after their album came out. I'm glad that their Grammy win means that more people discover them now.
  16. Watchhouse - Rituals- I love their first album too, but this one has something special.
  17. Kestrels - Better Wonder - Another band I discovered by clicking around. The album just brings me joy.
  18. Ixi - Decca- what a mesmerising album, found it on Bandcamp's blog I think, in one of the things I love about Bandcamp, discovered such good music on it.
  19. Hokø & Damien Fleau - Jazz in Tokyo - This fantastic lofi/jazz album is perfect for quiet afternoons. I love to listen to it when I need to find some calm or while I'm readling.
  20. Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh - Neadú- Her voice just draws you in, the music is so strong and so moving. It doesn't even matter that you don't understand the words, as it is mostly in Gaelic, you feel the emotion in each and every note.
